Senne Lammens’ most important moment during Manchester United’s win over Brighton went largely unnoticed even though it was described as ‘insane’.
Manchester United extended their winning run to three games with an entertaining 4–2 victory over Brighton in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
Fresh from a statement win over Liverpool at Anfield, United returned home full of belief — and it showed right from the kickoff.
Matheus Cunha opened the scoring midway through the first half, coolly netting his first goal for the club since arriving in the summer. Casemiro soon made it 2–0 when his effort took a deflection that left Bart Verbruggen with no chance.
After the interval, Bryan Mbeumo capped off a slick attacking move to stretch the lead to 3–0, but former United striker Danny Welbeck pulled one back for Brighton with a precise free-kick.
The visitors grabbed another late goal to set up a tense finish, yet Mbeumo struck again in stoppage time to secure a well-earned three points for Ruben Amorim’s men.
Senne Lammens made his third consecutive start for the club — and with another win under his belt, his presence in goal is looking increasingly significant for the Reds.
Nobody noticed Lammens’ most important moment vs Brighton
United fans have been extremely impressed by Lammens’ start at Old Trafford, with the goalkeeper offering a calming presence behind the defence.
Even though he probably should have saved Danny Welbeck’s free-kick on the weekend, the Belgian shot-stopper produced several impressive moments, but the best one might have been missed by most at the stadium.
Midway through the first-half, Yankuba Minteh sent an in-swinging cross into the United boss, but with the ball evading Welbeck, it looked like it was heading into the corner of the goal.
Lammens provided quick reactions to make a slight save but it was not spotted by Anthony Taylor, who awarded a goal-kick, and many fans at Old Trafford.
But replays show that it was an ‘insane’ save from the United ‘keeper, and it was the exact kind of goal that André Onana conceded multiple times during his time at the club.
United players trust Lammens
Before this game, Benjamin Šeško conducted an interview with Sky Sports where he was asked to describe Lammens in one word. He used ‘wall’.
The United squad clearly trust the new goalkeeper and that is extremely important. Too often we have seen indecisiveness at the back, and that was mostly down to the man between the sticks.

It was also important to see how Lammens would react to a mistake, and he was excellent after Welbeck’s free-kick found the back of the net on Saturday.
Amorim admitted that the 23-year-old has surprised him, and the entire fanbase are also pleasantly surprised with the new addition.
