Nine Manchester United Women players to look out for at EURO 2025, including “impressive” young star

With the 2025 Women’s European Championships kicking off this week, there are several Manchester United talents to look out for this summer.

Wednesday afternoon marks the start of Euro 2025, and several of Manchester United’s women’s teams will be seen representing their country. The tournament will be held across Switzerland, with the final scheduled for July 27th.

Although United failed to win a trophy this season, nine of Marc Skinner’s players will have the chance to win international silverware. These nine players are split across five national sides, including two home nations.

United fans wanting to keep an eye on how the club’s international representatives are performing should watch Group D. Of the nine United players attending the tournament, six are in this group across all four teams: England, Wales, France, and the Netherlands.

This means that there will definitely be at least two United players in the knockout rounds of the tournament. Below are all the United players who will feature at Euro 2025.

Maya Le Tissier

United’s captain, Maya Le Tissier, has been called up by Sarina Wiegman to represent England. This will be Le Tissier’s first time representing England at a major tournament, and she’ll be hoping to add to her eight international caps.

Le Tissier has earned her place in the England squad following an impressive season for United. Her first campaign as club captain saw her lead United to European qualification with the second-best defensive record in the league. These accomplishments not only earned her England call-up but also her place in the WSL Team of the Season.

Despite competing for a place in the starting 11 with several established England stars, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Le Tissier use the group stage of this tournament to solidify her place in the team for the remainder of the tournament and beyond.

Ella Toone

Three-time United Women’s Player of the Year award winner, Ella Toone, will also be representing England this summer. Toone has represented England at the last two major tournaments and has been a regular starter under Wiegman.

Having been at the club since the rebirth of the Women’s team in 2018, Toone has impressed year on year, and this season has been no exception. During the 2024/25 league campaign, Toone registered seven goal involvements in 18 appearances.

During Euro 2022, Toone scored two pivotal goals on England’s road to victory, including the Lionesses’ first goal in the final. Toone started and bagged a brace in England’s final pre-tournament game against Jamaica, likely indicating that Wiegman intends to continue using her throughout the tournament.

Grace Clinton

Like Le Tissier, this will be Grace Clinton’s first major tournament appearance for England. The 22-year-old midfielder will join the England camp following her first full season in the United team, during which she scored eight league goals.

This season, Clinton has made a name for herself in the WSL, having been nominated for Young Player of the Season and having made the Team of the Season alongside Le Tissier.

Clintons’ rise in the England set up has been just as impressive as it has been with United. Since making her England debut in February 2024, Clinton has earned 11 caps and has scored three goals. Whilst there is a lot of competition in England’s midfield, Wiegman has recently been using Clinton off the bench, and she may be given a chance to start in the group stage.

Safia Middleton-Patel

Finishing up United’s representatives for the home nations is Safia Middleton-Patel of Wales. Middelston-Patel featured once in goal for United this season during the team’s League Cup campaign.

Wales are one of the tournament’s major underdogs and are likely to struggle to make it out of the group stage, as they’ll face England, France, and the Netherlands.

Middelton-Patel is likely to be the back-up keeper to Leicester City’s Olivia Clark. However, fans could still see her featured if Wilkinson decides to rotate or in the case of a suspension or injury for Clark.

Melvine Malard

One of the most decorated players that United have ever signed, Melvin Malard, will be looking to add to her 29 caps and nine goals for France.

The four-time Champions League winner with Lyon impressed during her first season as a fully fledged United player, having registered eight goal involvements in all competitions.

Frances number 9 scored a hat-trick against Belgium in one of their penultimate pre-tournament fixture and will likely be Les Bleues’ main focal point throughout the tournament.

Dominique Janssen

The last United player to feature in the Group D sides is the Netherlands’ Dominique Janssen. The 30-year-old defender has previously tasted victory at the 2017 Euros.

Janssen was pivotal in fortifying United’s near-impenetrable defence this season and also managed to contribute four goal involvements. Her efforts over this first season with United have seen Andries Jonker once again call her up to the Dutch squad.

Janssen’s place in the Dutch national team is a solid one, as the joint ninth most capped Dutch woman of all time, it is likely she will be instrumental for Jonker throughout the tournament.

Elisabeth Terland

Like England, Norway also has three representatives, with the first being United’s top scorer this season, Elisebeth Terland. The forward reached 10 goals for her country this year and will be hoping to add to this tally during the tournament.

Having joined from Brighton last summer, Terland is another player to have had an impressive debut season for United, registering 15 goal involvements in 20 league appearances.

Norway start their Euro 2025 campaign against the hosts, Switzerland, this evening. Terland’s most recent goal for Norway was against Switzerland back in February. Due to this, manager Gemma Grainger will likely start her in the Grasshoppers’ opening game.

Lisa Naalsund

Midfielder Lisa Naalsund has also been called up to represent Norway at the Euros. Naalsund joined United in January 2023 from the Norwegian league, where she had made over 200 appearances.

It has been a difficult year for Nauslaund, who had to miss four months of the season due to an ankle injury. She did, however, make 11 appearances across the season, where her defensive attributes helped maintain United’s defensive record.

Naalsund missed out on the last Euros after picking up an injury in one of the final pre-tournament fixtures. Since then, Naalasund has appeared off the bench in Norway’s previous two fixtures. She could play a similar role in this tournament.

Celin Bizet

The final United player to be present at the tournament is forward Celin Bizet. Bizet will be featuring for Norway alongside Terland and Naalsand.

Bizet’s debut season at United saw her register an impressive 14 goal involvements in 29 appearances. Bizet particularly shone during United’s cup games, scoring a hat-trick in the FA Cup and scoring the opener in the semi-final against Manchester City.

Coming off the bench, Bizet assisted Terland in Norway’s last game against Switzerland, so she likely features in the opening game in some capacity. Her goals in the cup competitions for United may be in Gemma Grainger’s mind, should the Grasshoppers reach the knockouts.
