New footage of Manchester United’s winning goal against Bodø/Glimt has emerged and shown a crucial role one player played in the move.

Rúben Amorim celebrated his first win as Manchester United head coach with a thrilling Europa League triumph over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night.

In his first match at Old Trafford, United made an explosive start as Alejandro Garnacho scored within the opening minute, capitalising on Rasmus Højlund’s relentless pressing.

Bodo/Glimt responded with two quick goals, turning the game around by the 25th minute. However, Højlund brought United level just before halftime with a stunning finish.

The second half saw Højlund strike again, netting his second goal after a brilliant combination between Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte, who set him up for the match-winning effort.

Despite intense pressure from the visitors late on, André Onana’s outstanding saves ensured United secured their second Europa League victory of the season.

Mason Mount’s role in winner shown

Mount started for the first time under Amorim and played as the right-sided attacking midfielder in the front three.

Amorim had previously praised the 25-year-old, who he thinks will play a key role in his team as long as he proves his fitness.

For the winning goal, it was a well worked move which ended with Ugarte assisting Højlund in the box.

Of course, Mount was praised for his flicked pass in behind the defence for Ugarte to run onto, but new footage from the stands shows how Mount did much more than that.

With the ball being played to Antony on the wing, Mount made a quick overlap but the ball was not played to him. He immediately adjusted his movement to position himself between two defenders on the last line.

When the ball was recycled to Mazraoui, he quickly dropped into a brilliant space between four defenders to receive the pass, which he then smartly flicked in behind to Ugarte.

While the killer touch was deservedly praised, Mount’s energy and movement created the entire opportunity and he earned immediate praise from several teammates.

Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martínez and Mazraoui all noticed the 25-year-old’s involvement and went over to him during the celebrations.

Mount will be hoping to build on that display in the coming weeks under Amorim. It seems like if he gets his fitness under control, he could be a very useful player for the head coach.
