New Diego Leon images show Ruben Amorim has stuck to “very important” Manchester United promise made in November 2024

Diego Leon was announced as the latest Manchester United player this week and the teenager has been starting to get used to his new club.

Paraguayan wonderkid Diego Leon has officially joined Manchester United, following an initial agreement reached back in January.

Leon, 18, was announced on Friday and is expected to be part of the club’s upcoming pre-season while Ruben Amorim assesses his level.

The deal, initially for around £3 million, could rise closer to £7 million with add-ons and he has signed for five years at United.

Amorim has made sure to stick to a promise he made when he arrived at the club after images of Leon emerged on the club’s website.

On Sunday afternoon, United uploaded more pictures of Leon at Old Trafford, some of which were him admiring the iconic pitch.

But the teenager was also snapped with Jason Leach, the club’s long-standing guide, as he experienced the tour of the stadium and museum.

Leach is the same guide who shown Amorim around the Theatre of Dreams back when he joined the club in November 2024 and the head coach stated the importance of getting that experience afterwards.

“When you come here, it’s so different. You see the trophies, you see the tragedy that we have as a club,” Amorim said at the time.

“So you can understand the history, after the crash, then we were European champions. This kind of strength, I think it is important to put in our team.

“When the players come here, they should make the same tour with the same guy all the time. I think this is very important to do.”

United history is a constant reminder of demands

Amorim has mentioned several times that United cannot be a club which gets used to losing, and that can be hard to shake after a season like the last one.

But the club’s history is something to fall back on and remind players of their responsibilities. It is a good idea to have new players learn about the ups and downs over the years at Old Trafford.

Leon is a player who seems to have heart and the right mentality, but there is a lot more needed in order to succeed.

One thing is for sure; the young defender will be giving his all for the badge whenever he steps on the pitch.
