Nathan Ake names surprise Man United star as feared opponent ahead of international clash
Nathan Ake has named Manchester United’s Scott McTominay as a player that the Netherlands must be wary of ahead of their fixture against Scotland.
Scott McTominay has grown into a useful goalscorer for Manchester United under Erik ten Hag this season. Only Rasmus Højlund (13) has scored more goals than the Scotland international (9).
McTominay was pivotal in Scotland’s qualification for EURO 2024, scoring seven goals during the qualification stage to propel them into the competition’s finals, which will take place in Germany this summer.

March represents the last international fixtures before the tournament gets underway, with Scotland and the Netherlands facing off on Friday 22 March in the first of two games.
Nathan Ake, Netherlands international and Manchester City defender, has previewed the tie, and in doing so named United’s McTominay as a player that the Netherlands must be wary of ahead of the game.
“We’ll be up against a very strong team,” Ake said via The Scottish Sun. “With good Premier League players at its heart.
“John McGinn (of Aston Villa) and Scott McTominay, in particular, are on top form. They have really impressed me. And I watch Andy Robertson closely because he plays left-back (for Liverpool) and I often do, too, although we are different players.
“You can see that as a team, Scotland are improving every year. It’s good to watch. And they’re going to give us a really tough game.”
Scotland will then face Northern Ireland on Tuesday evening as they continue to prepare for EURO 2024.
