One of the MUTV pundits has revealed one of Bryan Mbeumo’s secret strengths shown during his first Manchester United training sessions.
Bryan Mbeumo joined Manchester United at the beginning of the week after a drawn-out transfer saga between the Reds and Brentford.
His signing was made in time for the beginning of the US pre-season tour and Ruben Amorim is delighted to have the 25-year-old in his ranks.
The forward is expected to make his unofficial debut against West Ham this weekend after getting a full week of training under his belt.
He has been able to showcase his strengths on the training pitch and has even managed to surprise some people with certain attributes he’s displayed.
MUTV pundit reveals hidden Mbeumo strength
United’s media team have joined the squad on tour and that includes ex-Red Ben Thornley, who is a pundit and commentator on the club’s programme MUTV.
He was caught praising Mbeumo this week while also admitting that the Cameroon international is better in the air than many might have guessed.
“I’ve been a long time admirer of Bryan Mbeumo,” Thornley stated on MUTV while watching Amorim’s training session on Friday.
“The way that he plays the game, he looks effortlessly, inside or outside, two great feet, he’s quick, he can play with the ball, he can play on the counter attack.
“And from what we saw as well he’s not half good in the air, so yeah, he’s an all-rounded player and just like Matheus Cunha, he’s a difference maker, somebody that can change games like that.
“I think when you’re playing in a league as competitive [as the Premier League], this is imperative to have people like that in your squad.”
Mbeumo is an all-rounded player
Mbeumo has actually only scored a handful of headed goals in his career and none came during his 20-goal campaign last term.
But it is no surprise that he is someone who can potentially bring that to the table. As mentioned by Thornley, he is an ‘all-rounded’ player and looks to improve on all different aspects of his game.
He certainly seems like the kind of player who will be aware that he does not have the best record of goalscoring headers and want to change that.
Bruno Fernandes often likes to cross towards the far post from the left side when United are attacking and that could be something that we end up seeing Mbeumo profit from.
Whether he finishes them off with a volley, knee or header doesn’t really matter, but it looks like he has all of those types of finishes in his repertoire.
