MUTV pundit claims Manchester United squad must copy £28,000-a-week star after Ipswich display
One MUTV pundit has claimed that the Manchester United squad must copy a £28,000-a-week star after his display against Ipswich Town.
Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town in Ruben Amorim’s managerial debut, despite taking an early lead.
Amad Diallo impressed with a dazzling solo run to set up Marcus Rashford for the opener. However, that was the standout moment for United at Portman Road.
Ipswich levelled the score just before halftime with a deflected long-range strike that ricocheted off Noussair Mazraoui.
In the second half, United struggled to create clear chances, with Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho unable to make a significant impact in the final third.
After minimal time with his players so far, Amorim would have learnt a lot from the first game of his tenure.
MUTV pundit says squad must copy Amad
One player who impressed was Amad, who did not only create the only goal for United but also excelled in his defensive duties.
The 22-year-old earned praise from MUTV pundit Fraizer Campbell, who believed that he was the Man of the Match on the night.
Campbell also claimed that United will improve if the rest of the squad had the same effort levels as Amad, who looked like he was making his ‘first appearance’ on Sunday.
“Amad I think,” replied Campbell when asked for his Man of the Match. “He was playing an unfamiliar role and he created the first goal.
“But not only the stuff he was doing going forward, he was getting back. He was playing like it was his first ever appearance.
“Trying to impress, going the extra yard, working really hard for the team and I think that’s what they need collectively.
“If everyone is pulling in the same direction and putting the effort in that he’s putting in, I think we’ll do well.”
Amad a clear positive
Amad was one of the clear positives for Amorim in that game buy you would hope that the Ivorian is playing closer to goal next time out.
He displayed his abilities going forward and while he has the energy to play at wingback, you want him closer to goal more often.
Amad’s current deal at Old Trafford, reported to be at around £28,000-a-week, runs out at the end of the season. United have an option to extend that for another year.
Despite only being in the job for a matter of weeks, it seems that Amorim will be wanting the club to extend Amad’s deal and use him as a key player going forward.
