MUTV pundit admits he’s stunned by Manchester United star who ‘keeps getting better’, Matheus Cunha will make him “even better”

MUTV pundit Danny Simpson was full of praise for one player after Manchester United’s 2-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United’s nightmare season has finally come to an end after their 2-0 win over Aston Villa, with relief and optimism being two of the major feelings around the ground.

There is relief that this, their worst campaign ever in the Premier League, is over, and optimism for what next season can hold. As gaffer Ruben Amorim said at full time, “The good days are coming.”

With the club linked to a fistful of Premier League talent this summer, including the likes of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, there is plenty of reason to be hopeful for next season.

One other reason for fans to smile is the continued dedication of their captain, Bruno Fernandes, who was the subject of high praise post-match on MUTV.

How we can see an even better Fernandes at United

Pundit Danny Simpson, who was born in Greater Manchester and came through the United youth academy, was full of praise for Fernandes. After the game, Simpson said: “You think he’s hit his ceiling, and there he goes one more; he starts playing better and better.

Yeah, he’s got his goals and assists, but you can see when things are down or there’s a bad result, he’s always the first to come out and speak. He’s always protecting his teammates.

When you’re in a team and things are down and you’ve got someone like that as your captain, it’s fantastic. Yes, we can win you the game by fantastic moments, but there’s been times when your team always wants the ball.

Even if he’s having a bad game and he’s losing it, give it to me. Give it to me. I’ll drive this team. I just think, every area of his game now, even now, dropping in the centre mid… I never would have said a year ago he’d be able to play centre mid.

“I always seen him in the No. 10, but I think he’s just all-around understanding of the game at the moment.

He’s right up there, and we need to put the team around him. He needs help. Because if that’s the other people that are stepping up, you’ll probably see an even better Bruno.”

Help for Fernandes is on its way

The help and support in midfield that Fernandes desperately needs should be on its way, with United ready to sign some top-quality players this summer.

Out of the crop of talent said to be coming in, none resonates more with Simpson’s pleas for assistance for the captain than Cunha. The Brazilian is a natural wide number ten who has the technical ability to play off Bruno in the midfield.

It has often been a recurring theme that Fernandes has played well but been unable to drag this team towards positive results on his own, often ending up frustrated at full time.

With the right support around him and some shoring up in other key areas of the pitch, United by all means should be a serious threat next season.

Fans will just be hoping that their transfer dreams come true, and the nightmare of this season will soon feel like a distant memory.
