Rúben Amorim has issued two injury updates after Noussair Mazraoui and Mason Mount both suffered problems against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United delivered a thrilling 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, with Amad Diallo’s late-game heroics earning all three points for Rúben Amorim’s side in a dramatic Premier League encounter.

The game started with both sides intent on controlling possession, but United suffered an early setback when Mason Mount was forced off due to injury after just 15 minutes.

City capitalized on the disruption and opened the scoring through Joško Gvardiol, who powered a header past the United defence after Kevin de Bruyne’s deflected cross from a short corner.

In the second half, United came out with intent, dominating possession but struggling to convert it into clear-cut chances. Bruno Fernandes had a golden opportunity to equalize with 10 minutes to go, but his shot went wide of the target.

The turning point came with just five minutes remaining, as Amad Diallo’s dazzling run into the box earned United a penalty. Fernandes coolly stepped up and converted, bringing the game level and shifting the momentum.

But United weren’t done. In the dying moments, Lisandro Martínez delivered a perfectly weighted pass from deep, finding Amad in space. The young winger showed remarkable composure, rounding Ederson and slotting home the winner to complete a stunning comeback and seal a memorable victory for United.

Amorim’s double update

When Noussair Mazraoui came off, he headed straight down the tunnel to the changing room rather than sitting on the bench. He was also spotted limping out of United’s changing room before the team left.

“It’s more the problem with Mason and Nous,” Amorim replied when asked by MUTV why he headed for the tunnel after full-time.

“You think right away, you go in the tunnel and think right away because we have a lot of games, you know. We need to continue to win and it will change if we don’t win the next game.”

When asked how disappointing it is for Mount, given how well he seems suited to thriving in Amorim’s formation and system, the boss was clear about the high regard he has for him.

“Yeah, he really fits our style,” said Amorim. “He will continue to fit because he’s a very good player. Also, outside of the pitch, he is the kind of character I want in this team and we want as a club in this team.

“He has a movement, it’s not like something he made a sprint. He made a movement and stretched his leg and felt something.

“It’s bad luck, nothing with the problem of the body of Mason Mount. It was a bad movement and he is going to recover because we need him.”
