Mount, Gibbs-White, Yoro – Manchester United injury news as Nottingham Forest suffer double blow (Premier League)

Manchester United have been handed a boost as Nottingham Forest have been given a double blow ahead of their crunch Premier League encounter on Tuesday evening.

After a two-week international break, Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United resume Premier League duties with an away clash against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, 1 April.

United had hit impressive form heading into the pause, securing back-to-back victories against Real Sociedad, comfortably defeating Leicester City 3-0, and earning a valuable point in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Bruno Fernandes has been central to United’s recent success, netting five goals and registering two assists in his last three matches under Amorim.

While the fixture at Forest offers an excellent chance for United to pick up where they left off, Amorim will also have upcoming key matches firmly in mind—including a Manchester Derby and a Europa League quarter-final tie with Olympique Lyonnais.

United’s latest injury news

Speaking on Monday afternoon, Amorim confirmed the latest on several players. Although the Forest fixture comes too soon for Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire have both returned, while Kobbie Mainoo is close.

“Luke is not ready yet. We are starting doing some drills with the team, but we are building Luke,” he said. “Mason Mount is feeling better, but he was on the bench in the last game. Kobbie is almost ready, Jonny [Evans] is recovering, Licha [Martínez] is out. Maguire is also ready to go to the game, and Yoro, yes.”

On Ayden Heaven, the head coach commented: “It is not so serious. He is recovering, he is not yet ready to play but he will return this season, for sure.”

Beyond those mentioned, Altay Bayındır returned to training late last week, with Tom Heaton also spotted. Amad remains out with an ankle injury, but there is hope he will return before the season comes to a close.

Forest hit with double blow

While United have seen injured players return, Forest boss Nuno Espírito Santo has confirmed that two of his stars may be unavailable to face United.

Striker Chris Wood, who has 18 Premier League goals this season, suffered a hip injury while with New Zealand last week, with Nuno confirming that it was unlikely he would be able to feature last week, although more recent comments suggest his condition is improving.

“He is improving. He is getting better day by day,” the Portuguese said on Monday afternoon. “We have to assess him day by day. It is all about him being pain free and then getting back to fitness.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White suffered an injury against Brighton on Saturday evening after a collision with a post, and the Forest boss explained that the resulting issue does not look good.

Back-up keeper Carlos Miguel has also picked up an injury. Former United winger Anthony Elanga may be in line to start against his old club, while in-form winger Callum Hudson-Odoi could return to the starting XI.
