Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers is looking forward to playing with Marcus Rashford at Villa Park after his loan move from Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford had been out of action for Manchester United since early December after expressing his willingness to take on a new challenge in an interview.

The club’s No.10 was made available for loan during the January transfer window and was particularly keen on a move to Barcelona, who had shown interest in signing him.

However, financial difficulties at the Spanish club, stemming from a lack of outgoing transfers, meant they were unable to afford his wages. Consequently, both Rashford and United explored alternative destinations.

Aston Villa emerged as a strong contender, with manager Unai Emery eager to bring the forward in. A deal was eventually agreed for Rashford to join Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.

Following the move, Rashford has expressed his commitment to helping Villa in their Champions League campaign after the club secured a spot in the knockout stages.

Rogers delivers Rashford verdict

Morgan Rogers has been a standout performer for the Midlands outfit since he joined the club from Middlesbrough last summer.

In a new interview, the Villa midfielder hs not only suggest that he could cause “damage” on the pitch alongside Rashford, but also referenced the 27-year-old’s impact on his development.

The 22-year-old explained that Rashford became somebody he looked up to as an Academy player, while he was coming through the ranks at Old Trafford.

“His talent and quality, everyone’s seen it for a number of years now,” Rodgers told Sky Sports. “To be able to play with him is something I’m thoroughly looking forward to.

“When I was coming up, he was starting to be the guy in England and he’s someone I looked up to as a player in a similar position that you want to try and be one day.

“Hopefully we can cause some damage on the pitch and get Villa where we want to get them.”

Amorim addresses United transfers

While the Villains are looking forward to seeing how Rashford plays in their already-impressive attacking setup, those at Old Trafford are wondering where goals will come from.

After letting Rashford and Antony leave on loan, many expected that a replacement forward would be signed – even if it was only a short-term solution.

Instead, United decided against making any last-minute moves and Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that it is a risk for him and his team in the short-term but trusts the strategy to pay off eventually.

“We are taking a risk but we want a different thing in the team, different profiles. It was my decision to do that,” he explained. “I’m not naive, I said that many times, this is a sport of results and we are in a difficult situation.

“I know when I choose this profession that you have the risk of results and I knew when I came here I look at the schedule, I look at the team, my decision changing everything in the middle of the season without new signings is a danger for a coach, but I have a clear idea of what I want to do and I take these risks because in the end it’s going to pay off.”
