One Manchester United youngster has caught the eye of Rúben Amorim and has been selected against Lyon as the club travel to France for a Europa League quarter-final tie.
Manchester United turn their attention back to Europa League action this Thursday evening, heading to France for a quarter-final clash with Olympique Lyonnais.
Rúben Amorim’s side secured their place in the last eight with a commanding 5-2 aggregate win over Real Sociedad, delivering impressive performances across both legs.
Lyon, meanwhile, advanced with ease, demolishing FCSB 7-1 over two legs to set up this high-stakes encounter with United. Amorim’s team is the only unbeaten side remaining in this year’s Europa League, and they’ll be looking to extend that record in Lyon.
After a frustrating run of two goalless draws against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City in the Premier League, Amorim will be hoping his side can rediscover their clinical touch when they face Lyon later this week.
Moorhouse included in Europa League squad
Following United’s open training session on Wednesday morning, the club confirmed that Amorim had chosen to make full use of his squad as he selected 23 players to travel to France.
While Matthijs de Ligt missed out due to injury, United fans were delighted to see that Kobbie Mainoo, who had missed the last two months with a calf injury, had been included.
Beyond Mainoo, several Academy starlets were also selected to travel, with Godwill Kukonki, Jaydan Kamason, Harry Amass, and Jack Moorhouse all on the plane on Wednesday afternoon.
Other recent injury returns such as Leny Yoro, Maosn Mount, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw also made the list, with Shaw expected to be granted his first minutes in 2025 after he finally returned to a matchday squad against City last weekend.
Moorhouse set for debut under Amorim
Moorhouse’s inclusion has come after a stunning performance with the U21s during a 3-3 draw with Nottingham Forest on Monday.

Moorhouse has often been compared to Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, with the 19-year-old said to have caught the eye of Amorim back in December.
According to recent reports, there is now growing confidence within the Carrington set-up that the Manchester-born forward will be handed his debut for Amorim’s first-team before the end of the season.
Moorhouse has been touted as a potential perfect profile to slot into Amorim’s wide attacking positions, with his ball-carrying recently labelled as the “best” across all of United’s Academy sides – a trait that has been lost in the first-team following Amad’s injury.
