“More preferable…” – Manchester United’s hidden reason behind slow Viktor Gyökeres advancements revealed

There is one hidden reason as to why Manchester United have been slow with their advancements over a deal for Viktor Gyökeres this summer.

Manchester United managed to secure the signing of Matheus Cunha on the opening day on the transfer window, setting a good tone heading into such an important period.

That was followed quickly by the news that Bryan Mbeumo wanted to join the club, with United launching an opening bid shortly afterwards.

However, with United moving fast in that department, there has not been much movement with their new preferred striker target Viktor Gyokeres in terms of direct contact.

That is not only because the club need to earn extra money before trying to sign him, with another less-known detail United are considering.

United’s hidden reason behind slow Gyökeres advancements

United’s financial position in terms of the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) is certainly not as bad as it was made out to be before the window.

However, Ben Jacobs has claimed that it is ‘more preferable’ for United to try and advance the Gyokeres deal in July as the finances of the deal will be placed on to the next financial year.

“Where there’s confusion, I think, is the advancement of this deal because Manchester United likely will focus on outgoings and then put a lot of their effort into finding a number nine in July,” Jacobs told The United Stand.

“That’s more preferable in terms of putting that financing onto the next financial year but also we know despite the fact they want to be decisive in the market they’re not going to be rash.

“They’re not looking to do everything in the month of June, they’re not in the Club World Cup – the deadline today doesn’t really have a bearing on Manchester United, so I think we’re going to have to be patient with the Viktor Gyökeres saga.”

United trying to act fast but smart in transfer window

Most fans will not have a detailed understanding of the financial situation at Old Trafford but the latest accounts publicised clearly showed that the club are going in the right direction in that sense.

Omar Berrada will be among those leading this process to ensure that United act as quickly as possible in the transfer market without wasting cash.

That is also what we’re seeing in the Mbeumo chase right now, with the Reds taking their time with the knowledge that the player is desperate to join.

In terms of the Gyökeres deal, it is clear that we will be waiting a little while before that kicks into action for several reasons.
