Insiders have revealed a key change Ruben Amorim has made behind the scenes at Manchester United’s training ground.

Ruben Amorim drew his opening Manchester United fixture against Ipswich Town before winning against Bodo/Glimt and Everton in the following two games.

He now awaits a game against Arsenal in the Premier League, with minimal time on the training ground before his team takes to the pitch again.

Yet, the 39-year-old will still be wanting to squeeze as much work out of his squad as possible at Carrington, as he looks to fully implement the new style.

Amorim’s training ground change

According to a report from the Telegraph, Amorim has appointed specialised coaches for the key departments of his United squad.

It was explained that the head coach has assigned specific members of his coaching staff to work with defenders, midfielders and attackers.

This is a major change from how Erik ten Hag worked at Carrington. The Dutch manager’s coaches had more generalised roles across the board.

The report stated that Amorim’s approach is seen as a modern way of coaching compared to the traditional method from the likes of Ten Hag.

After joining the club earlier this month, Amorim brought in Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Paulo Barreira with him in his backroom staff.

Darren Fletcher, Andreas Georgson and assistant first-team goalkeeper coach Craig Mawson remained within the setup, while the likes of Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy departed.

Amorim and United fans will be hoping that this new approach can help the players learn the new system quicker.

The signs from his first two games have been positive although some clear problems obviously exist which he will need to iron out.

Amorim thanks the fans

While tactics and identity on the pitch are crucial, Amorim has already realised the potential importance of the supporters after he was welcomed to Old Trafford for the first time against Bode/Glimt.

“The first thing is that half of the stadium doesn’t really know me,” said Amorim after the win. “I came from Portugal – I did nothing for this club yet. So the way they make me feel at home, it’s so special, you know, it’s not after something, it’s before something.

“This is something special. And I will keep this to the end of my career. It’s a special moment in my career.

“I hope it will be one of the many games here. It’s a great crowd, great supporters. They are hungry for wins, that’s what we want to give them. One more win in Europe, improve the team, show them what we are working on.”
