Michael Carrick has already started to see a ‘positive dynamic’ form at Manchester United, following one key change that he has made to his side’s training sessions.
Since his introduction as the interim manager of Manchester United, Michael Carrick has been incredibly successful, and led his side to a 2-0 victory of Manchester City.
Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu both notched a goal apiece to give the Reds three well-deserved points, although they could have scored more, as they saw three goals chalked off for offside.
The Red Devils looked well-drilled defensively as they managed to shut out the Premier League’s top scorers, and provided a clinical edge that had previously been missing.
Carrick has clearly managed to change a lot at Old Trafford in such a short amount of time, and now it has been revealed what key change he has made following Ruben Amorim’s tenure.
Carrick changes training intensity
As reported by the Daily Mail, via Manchester Evening News, Carrick has quickly implemented one key change to United’s training sessions since his arrival, with him focusing on the Reds’ training intensity.
Carrick has made his training sessions at Carrington shorter but more intense in an attempt to improve his side’s results. This will help his side to prepare for the intensity of the Premier League.
It is understood that the players have reacted well to this change, with it being ‘immediately clear’ from the first session that the atmosphere has improved in the training ground.
Due to a blend of expertise and characters within United’s backroom team, a ‘positive dynamic’ seems to have already formed. Also, the training now has an increased focus on one-to-one work.
Has Carrick scrapped Amorim bans?
What still remains unclear in the early stages of Carrick’s tenure, is whether the English manager has gotten rid of the bans previously instated by Amorim.
Amorim placed a ban that stopped players from treating international breaks as holiday opportunities, as well as a ban that forbade food in the United dressing room on matchdays.
His third and final ban was regarding his coaching staff, as he didn’t allow them to deliver overly complex instructions to his players.
Whether Carrick has stuck with Amorim’s bans or not is still unclear, but regardless of this, the way in which he has already managed to stamp his authority on the Reds is admirable.
