Michael Carrick has issued the latest on three of his Manchester United stars following their brilliant 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United picked up another three Premier League points on Sunday, fighting back to beat Crystal Palace 2–1 with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko.
Palace made the brighter start and went ahead early as Maxence Lacroix scored from a corner. United were dealt another blow when Luke Shaw was forced off injured, with Noussair Mazraoui introduced at left-back.
After an improved but goalless end to the first half, United stepped up after the break. Matheus Cunha was fouled by Lacroix, who was shown a red card, and Fernandes calmly converted the penalty.
Fernandes then turned provider, setting up Šeško to seal the comeback and maintain his excellent 2026 form, lifting the Reds to third.
Carrick issues update on Shaw and Maguire
In the first half, Shaw showed worrying signs as he was replaced by Mazraoui, with his clearly upset face hinting at a serious problem.
Then, with five minutes to play, Harry Maguire also unexpectedly exited the field, being replaced by Ayden Heaven and heading straight down the tunnel with physios.
However, speaking with the BBC after the full-time whistle, Carrick has shed a positive light on the situation, stating that the two players simply weren’t feeling too well, rather than any signifiacnt issue.
“They just weren’t feeling too well, so hopefully they will be feeling better soon,” the United boss said.

Lisandro Martínez has been an integral part of their run so far, but has missed the last two games due to a calf injury, and Carrick admitted that there is no clear time on his return, although it’s not far away.
Speaking ahead of the game, Carrick told Sky Sports: “We will have to wait and see. He’s close, he’s not far away. It’s hard to say at the moment.”
With the game in Newcastle on Wednesday evening set to be an incredibly physical affair, Martínez’s aggressive nature and on-the-ball composure could be a game-changer for the Reds.
