Michael Carrick has issued the latest on his Manchester United squad as they head to face Everton away from home for a Premier League tie on Monday evening.
Manchester United resume their Premier League campaign on Monday evening following a 13-day break, as Michael Carrick takes his side to face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The match will mark the senior men’s team’s first outing at Everton’s new stadium, although United’s women previously enjoyed a 4–1 victory over the Toffees there in the WSL in October 2025.
Carrick’s side will be keen to put things right after their 1–1 draw away to West Ham United two weeks ago. Currently fourth in the table, the Reds are well placed in the battle to secure Champions League football.
But the chasing pack are close behind. Chelsea sit just one point back in fifth, while Liverpool are three points behind United, meaning there is little room for complacency against David Moyes’ men.
Carrick issues United injury latest
United have a few injury problems within their squad, with Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu set to miss the Everton tie as they continue their rehabilitation from back and hamstring injuries, respectively.
Speaking during his press conference on Friday afternoon, Carrick provided the latest on his United squad ahead of the fixture, though his words suggest Mason Mount’s availability remains a question mark.
“Yeah, Mason is getting closer. I think we’ve been patient, so we don’t want to push anything”, Carrick told reporters.
“We want him back, and he can have a big impact. He’s getting closer which is good for us.
“Matta is a little bit working towards it. He’s a bit behind Mason, so we’re just trying to work with him to progress him.”

Carrick may make changes vs Everton
So far this season, Carrick has only made one change to his starting teams, with Matheus Cunha replacing Dorgu following his injury against Arsenal.
However, following Benjamin Šeško’s goals in the last few weeks, there have been calls to see if the Slovenian could be handed his first start under Carrick.
Should this happen, one of Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, or Amad would have to be dropped from the front three, which would be a difficult decision to make.
There is also a chance that Noussair Mazraoui could replace Diogo Dalot at right-back, while Harry Maguire could be replaced by one of Ayden Heaven or Leny Yoro after being substituted with a possible hamstring issue against West Ham.
