Mbeumo, Mount, De Ligt: Man Utd latest injury updates and return dates vs West Ham (Premier League)

Michael Carrick has issued a full update as Manchester United prepare themselves to face West Ham in an important Premier League clash on Tuesday evening.

Michael Carrick will be chasing a fifth consecutive win as his Manchester United team head to East London for Tuesday night’s meeting with 18th-placed West Ham.

Since stepping in for Rúben Amorim, the ex-United midfielder has overseen victories against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham, lifting the club five points clear in the race for Champions League qualification.

That said, West Ham are unlikely to roll over. They may be in the bottom three, but they are just three points from climbing out of danger, and the London Stadium has proven a tricky venue for United in recent years.

The Hammers, managed by Nuno Espirito Santos, claimed a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford back in December, and another positive result on Tuesday could be huge for either side’s momentum heading into the final phase of the Premier League season.

Speaking after the win over Tottenham, Carrick issued the latest injury news on his squad. A full update can be read below.

Bryan Mbeumo

What happened: Following his goal and 87 minutes against Fulham, some were worried after Bryan Mbeumo was spotted walking with a limp on his way back to the team bus.

What’s been said: Those close to the situation have instead stated that Mbeumo was simply feeling the effects of his strong effort at Old Trafford, with no significant worries.

Expected return date: Tuesday, 10 February – West Ham (A).

Mason Mount

What happened: Mason Mount has not been in either of United’s squads against Fulham or Tottenham due to a knock in training, having last featured during the win over Man City last month.

What’s been said: “Mason will be probably not for Tuesday, but definitely going into the Everton game he’ll be back,” Carrick said in his pre-match press conference.

Expected return date: Monday, 23 February – Everton (H).

Matthijs de Ligt

What happened: Having started the first 13 Premier League games of United’s season, Matthijs de Ligt has now missed every fixture since the end of November with a back problem.

What’s been said: “We’ll see how he develops,” Carrick said. “The Everton game feels like a long time away at the moment, so we’ll see how he develops, but he’s positive, he’s moving in the right direction.”

Expected return date: Early March.

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu

What happened: Amid a brilliant bout of form, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu sustained a hamstring injury against Arsenal, with initial reports suggesting that he could miss ten weeks of action.

What’s been said: “It could possibly [be up to ten weeks], we’re working through it,” Carrick recently commented. “Certainly looking forward to getting him back as quick as we can and getting [him] on the pitch long before the end of the season.”

Expected return date: Late March or early April.
