Matheus Cunha sends first message as Manchester United player as Bruno Fernandes reacts to official announcement

Matheus Cunha has sent his first message as a Manchester United player after Bruno Fernandes reacted to the official announcement.

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves on a five-year deal worth £62.5 million, pending visa and registration.

The Brazilian forward becomes Ruben Amorim’s first summer signing, representing a key early step in strengthening the squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Cunha is viewed as a vital addition to a struggling United attack which has been without cutting edge for too long. The 26-year-old is expected to inject some much-needed quality into the forward line.

The transfer fee will be structured in three instalments, beginning with an initial payment of £20.8 million upon completion of the deal, with the remaining amounts to be paid over the next year.

Cunha sends first message as United player

It has been reported that United will officially complete the move after Cunha returns from international duty with Brazil later this month.

That is why the player has not yet had official photos taken in the United strip, or conducted an interview with club media. Those duties will take place once visa and registration are completed.

However, Cunha has responded to the announcement from United, responding to the club’s Instagram post with the heart on fire emoji, and many supporters have responded positively to the news.

Several United players have also reacted to the transfer, with Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martínez among those to like the club’s Instagram post.

Fernandes’ future is still in the air as Al-Hilal attempt to snatch United’s captain. The Portuguese midfielder would certainly like the club to sign some more players like Cunha.

United want business done before pre-season starts

United’s pre-season preparations will not begin until the start of July, with a tour of the United States coming shortly after they return to Carrington.

Cunha will be in the building from day one, which is a breath of fresh air for supporters who are used to seeing their main signings join late in the window.

But the Reds will be wanting more than one new signing to start pre-season with, and the hope should be that the majority of the summer business is done by that point.

With no international tournaments taking place, Amorim and his squad have to take full advantage of the pre-season before an incredibly important campaign.
