Matheus Cunha pictured in 2025/26 Manchester United kit for first time as seven-word statement made

Matheus Cunha has finally been pictured in Manchester United colours as part of the 2025/26 kit launch after his transfer from Wolves.

Manchester United agreed a deal to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves on the opening day of the transfer window but could not complete the signing straight away.

That is because the 26-year-old recently represented Brazil on international duty, where he set up the winning goal in their 1-0 triumph over Paraguay to secure their place in next year’s World Cup.

After scoring 15 goals and contributing six assists in the Premier League last season, Cunha is regarded as a crucial addition who could strengthen and reinvigorate United’s attacking options.

Now, as part of the club’s kit launch for the 2024/25 home strip, Cunha has finally been pictured in United colours.

United announced their new home kit on Thursday morning, with the design taking inspiration from the iconic Old Trafford stadium.

The design features an abstract sleeve graphic in varying shades of red, representing key elements of the pitch, stands, and tunnel. As a tribute to the club’s proud history, the back of the collar is finished with a ‘Theatre of Dreams’ sign-off.

Many of United’s players, such as Bruno Fernandes and Amad, were pictured in the kit but Cunha appeared in the club’s latest edition of their magazine, Inside United.

The club explain how there is a ‘feature on the Brazilian’s back story and the unconventional path that has taken him to Old Trafford’ – and that is accompanied by the image above.

Cunha releases seven-word statement

Shortly after the announcement, Cunha took to Instagram himself to react to the announcement with a polaroid picture of him wearing the new strip on his story.

Cunha reacted with a simple seven-word message. “It’s all about you following your dreams!” he wrote, accompanied by a flaming heart emoji.

It is well-documented that Cunha has been a supporter of United and that is partly why he was willing to join the club when they were without European football.

The story seems to be similar for Bryan Mbeumo, who wants to join Cunha at Old Trafford this summer and United are working on that deal.
