Ruben Amorim has confirmed his 29-man Manchester United squad to face Leeds in their opening pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United are set to kick off their pre-season campaign with a clash against Leeds in Stockholm, Sweden, following their return to training earlier this month.
After a disappointing 15th-place finish in last season’s Premier League, the club has put together a challenging pre-season schedule to prepare for the 2025/26 campaign. The lineup includes fixtures against four Premier League opponents, along with a home match at Old Trafford against Serie A side Fiorentina.
Following the opening game against Leeds, United will travel to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series, where they’ll take on West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.
Fans will be particularly eager to see the Leeds fixture, which could mark the debuts of new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, as well as opportunities for several promising young players to impress.
Cunha set for United debut vs Leeds
It has now been confirmed that Amorim will be taking a 29-man squad to Sweden for this opening pre-season clash and Cunha will be involved. The Brazilian is expected to make his unofficial debut in this game.
Despite reaching an agreement to sign Bryan Mbeumo this week, the Cameroon international will not be able to make this game, but he will travel on tour with the squad.
André Onana’s absence from the squad is due to a hamstring injury. Dermott Mee has been selected over Radek Vitek or Elyh Harrison.
Young defender Harry Amass has also not been selected for this game, with reports suggesting that he is set for a loan move away from Old Trafford next season.
Fellow new signing Diego Leon has travelled with the squad for this game, while the likes of Jack Fletcher, Sekou Kone and Bendito Mantato are also involved.
Club captain Bruno Fernandes will lead the team against Leeds, with Mason Mount and Harry Maguire also among those selected to play in this game.
