Matheus Cunha brings three major strengths to Manchester United squad, explains club icon

Many Manchester United fans are excited about the incoming signing of Matheus Cunha and one club icon has explained his major strengths.

Manchester United will soon confirm the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, with the Brazilian forward set to join on a five-year contract in a deal worth £62.5 million.

Cunha will become Ruben Amorim’s first signing of the summer and is viewed as a vital solution to a front line that has struggled with inconsistency and a lack of cutting edge.

Known for his pace, creativity, and relentless work ethic, Cunha is expected to bring added dynamism and unpredictability to United’s attacking options.

The 26-year-old is anticipated to take up a starting role on the left wing in United’s front three, potentially pushing Alejandro Garnacho down the pecking order or potentially even out of the club.

Parker explains Cunha’s major strengths

On the surface, the signing of Cunha feels like a good one simply because he seems to know where the back of the net is. He scored 15 times in the Premier League last season.

But it is also the fact that the Brazilian has been excelling in a very similar shape to the one Amorim uses and the feeling is that he won’t need much time to adapt.

Former United defender Paul Parker believes that Cunha would also instantly become the “most natural athlete” at Old Trafford. He also appreciates the forward’s speed and arrogance.

“I like Matheus Cunha,” the 61-year-old told Betano. “He’ll be the most natural athlete at Manchester United because they haven’t got any athletes. He’s willing to run behind people, he’s quite quick and he plays with an arrogance because he believes in his ability.

“Manchester United haven’t got those types of players at the moment. They’ve got some players with arrogance, but it’s the wrong kind of arrogance.

“Cunha is going to make a difference, but he’s only one player, that’s not enough. Signing him won’t be enough. There’ll be a lot of disillusioned fans if there’s no movement and if they go into their first preseason game without new players.”

United need new signings for pre-season

Even though the feeling is that Cunha won’t need a lot of time to get to grips with life in Manchester, it is still a positive that they are going to be signing him early in the window.

Ideally, United will be starting their pre-season preparations this summer with at least three or four signings in the door for the first session at Carrington.

Being able to get used to your teammates and what the head coach wants as early as possible is always useful and even more-so when it is a free summer with no international tournament.

Cunha will soon be announced but United fans will be hoping that more players follow him quickly, with a new striker being the priority for the club.
