Manchester United will play Sevilla at Old Trafford on Thursday night in the quarter-finals of the Europa League in an effort to secure a first-leg lead.

In this year’s Europa League knock-out stages, Manchester United have already eliminated two La Liga teams; Barcelona and Real Betis, while Sevilla have moved past PSV Eindhoven and Fenerbahce.

While United aim to improve upon their current European tournament status by making it into the Champions League for the upcoming 2023/24 season, they do have a chance to add another significant trophy to their cabinet by conquering the Europa League this year.

The Red Devils won the EFL Cup at the end of February, ending their six-year trophy drought. They are currently competing in the FA Cup and are getting ready to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the competition’s semi-finals on Sunday 23 April.

Ten Hag’s group have won back-to-back home league games against Brentford and Everton while maintaining clean sheets in both contests. They currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League standings, three points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.

United, the 2017 Europa League champions, will play six more games towards the end of the month, with both legs of their quarterfinal match against Sevilla (the second leg will be played at Estadio Ramon next week).

The match officials for the Europa League tie have been confirmed, with a full German line-up of officials being involved.
