Match officials: Manchester United vs Aston Villa (Premier League)

Manchester United return to Old Trafford in the Premier League after yet another poor Premier League away showing against Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford for the second time this season, after the two sides faced off at the venue in the Carabao Cup towards the end of 2022.
The fixture saw Alejandro Garnacho produce two assists off the bench to help United defeat the Birmingham-based outfit 4-2 on the night.

The sides clashed in the Premier League a few weeks prior to this, with Unai Emery’s men running out at 3-1 victors.
The match officials for the fixture have been confirmed.
Match Referee
Jarred Gillett will be the main man in charge of the match on Friday. He has only previously refereed one Manchester United fixture this season – United’s 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup.
He has handed out 42 yellow cards this season across 14 league fixtures this season, handing one red card for a second yellow offence: the incident where Mario Lemina was sent off for being the third player of a crowd to approach the referee during an argument.
It was an incident that caused wide-spread debate as to if the second yellow should have been brandished or not, as people questioned the existence of the quoted rule which led to the sending-off.
Assistant Referees
Constantine Hatzidakis and Harry Lennard will be the assistant referee for the match. Both officials have had plenty of experience as assistant referees in the Premier League this season – they are certainly well-qualified to advise Gillett should he miss one or two calls.
Fourth Official
Darren England will be on the sidelines between Erik ten Hag and Unai Emery on Friday.
Video Assistant Referee
Michael Oliver will take charge of VAR for the game, with Lee Betts his assistant.
