Mason Mount reveals Ruben Amorim’s three demands for Man Utd squad vs Arsenal

Mason Mount has revealed three demands Ruben Amorim has for his Manchester United squad ahead of their Premier League opener with Arsenal.

After a five-match pre-season that saw them travel to Sweden, the United States, and return to Old Trafford, Manchester United look well-prepared for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Ruben Amorim’s side head into the season unbeaten, having claimed victories over West Ham and Bournemouth, along with draws against Leeds United, Everton and Fiorentina.

Attention now turns to a tantalising opening-day clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday, 17 August; a fixture promising high-profile debuts and plenty of intrigue.

United will need to be at their very best to overcome Mikel Arteta’s men and Mason Mount has revealed some of the demands Amorim has placed on his team ahead of the new campaign.

Mount reveals Amorim’s three demands for United vs Arsenal

Mount was one of the best performers during United’s pre-season tour, with his energy out of possession continuing to stand out.

That is one of the demands that Amorim has for the team, to have the intensity out of possession in Premier League clashes.

The Portuguese boss also wants United to move the ball much better than they did last year and keep more possession in these kind of games. They entered these kind of clashes very defensively last term.

Lastly, as all fans want to see too, Amorim is looking for his team to create more chances in games with a brand new frontline.

“I think for us it’s so important to start well, to start quick, to start with that intensity,” Mount told Inside United ahead of the Arsenal match.

“We’re a team that definitely can push with that and win games with that intensity and the way we want to press, the way we want to move the ball and dominate the ball, and create chances.

“That’s the way the manager wants to play, so it’s exciting for us to see what we’re doing in training and put that into the games.

“I think to start with that game [against Arsenal] is going to be massive for us, to start on the front foot and really push forward.”

Mount looking to continue pre-season form

With Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in the building, it seems unlikely that Mount will start against Arsenal, or regularly across the season.

But the Englishman certainly did not hurt his chances during pre-season, and it is well known that Amorim admires him as a player.

He will be looking to try and continue that form against the Gunners, whether that be as a starter or potentially coming off the bench.

United as a whole will be aiming to surprise some people in a difficult opening game of the season, to try and prove they have turned a corner.
