Mason Mount responds to Chelsea after second Manchester United bid rejected
Mason Mount has reportedly confirmed to Chelsea that he will not be signing a new contract as the club rejects a second bid from Manchester United.
Mason Mount has emerged as a key target of Manchester United this summer, with Erik ten Hag needing to boost his midfield options ahead of next season.
With both Fred, Donny van de Beek, and Scott McTominay said to be up for sale this summer, United are focusing on recruiting Mount to compete alongside Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen in midfield.

United have bid twice for Mount, once for £40 million and a second time for £45m plus £5 in add-ons – and both bids were rejected.
Although Chelsea originally asked for £70m for the English midfielder, this asking price has now been lowered after Mount responded to Chelsea’s rejection of United’s second bid.
According to David Ornstein, Mount has now informed Chelsea that he has no desire to renew his contract with the club and that the club will comply with his wish to leave, hence the lower asking price.
Mount’s confirmation that he will not sign a new contract has seemingly come as a response to the rejection of United’s second bid, with the player keen to join Erik ten Hag’s side for the start of next season.
Manchester United will return to pre-season training at the beginning of July, and Ten Hag will no doubt be keen to have the player in the squad once they jet off for the start of their pre-season tour. United will play Leeds in Oslo on 12 July.
