Mason Mount has explained that Manchester United “need to go away” after they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

Manchester United suffered their fourth Premier League loss of the season on Saturday afternoon as they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace, which is now their worst-ever start to a season in the competition.

It was Joachim Andersen’s first-half volley that sealed the deal for Roy Hodgson’s men, further sinking Erik ten Hag into the issues he is currently facing at the club.

Speaking to MUTV after the fixture, new signing Mason Mount has explained that United need to go away and look at the areas they must improve on.

“There are areas that we need to look at. It’s a frustrating one to take,” Mount said.

“We want to perform for them [the fans], we want to win games for them. We’ll improve, we need to go away and look at some areas that just weren’t there today.”

Mount himself had a great chance in the second half to draw the sides level, but his headed effort from close range was off target.

“Diogo (Dalot) put a good ball in and I just tried to glance it and it hit my shoulder,” he said on the chance. “It’s one of them ones, a tough one. If I score that, we’re back in the game, hunting for a winner. It’s fine margins and just not going our way at the moment.”

Mount has been struggling with injury since he signed for the club in the summer, and he opened up on the frustration he is feeling in relation to his problem.

Yeah, a tough start with the injury, a frustrating one but I used that time to look at areas I can improve on and coming back into the team last game it felt good. And then today, keep pushing and felt good as well but you don’t want to lose games.”
