Mason Greenwood included in Manchester United’s retained list as seven players leave club
Manchester United’s retained list has been sent to the Premier League ahead of the full announcement, with seven players leaving the club at the expiration of their contracts this month.
Phil Jones will leave Old Trafford after 12 years of service. Fellow first-team defender Axel Tuanzebe will be released.
A further five academy products will leave United at the end of June, with Ethan Galbraith and Di’Shon Bernard searching for opportunities elsewhere, as well as Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens and Manni Norkett.

Meanwhile, negotiations with David de Gea over a potential new contract are said to “remain open” by the club, while goalkeepers Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop have had extensions triggered on their deals.
Interestingly, whilst De Gea’s name has not been included, both Tom Huddleston and Mateo Mejia have been despite not having agreed contracts yet. However, the club’s comments have not fell in line with reports of the Spaniard’s new deal needing signing off by hierarchy.
Meanwhile, Mason Greenwood has been included on the retained list.
The 21-year-old was suspended from Manchester United in January 2022 after he was accused of domestic abuse, rape, and threats to kill via videos that circulated on social media.
He has not played for the club since, being under house arrest – however, all charges against him were dropped earlier this year.
According to The Sun, Erik ten Hag is said to be happy for the striker to play for the club again, although a final decision is yet to be made on his future by the club themselves.
A loan deal has been rumoured as a possibility, with three Italian clubs interested.
