Marcus Rashford’s stance on Manchester United revealed after individual training and shirt number drama

Marcus Rashford has been stripped of the Manchester United no.10 shirt and his stance on the situation has been revealed.

Manchester United are preparing to part ways with Academy graduate Marcus Rashford this summer, following a decline in his standing under Ruben Amorim last season.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Aston Villa, but the Midlands club opted not to trigger the £40 million purchase clause in the agreement.

Rashford is believed to favour a move to Barcelona, though any potential transfer to the La Liga side is likely to materialise only toward the end of the window.

In a further sign of his uncertain future, Rashford has been stripped of the club’s iconic No.10 shirt, now handed to new arrival Matheus Cunha, even though he has not officially departed.

Although Rashford reported for pre-season at Carrington last week, he was not with the squad and instead trained individually at the training ground.

Rashford’s stance on United revealed after shirt number drama

Rashford’s preference to move to Barcelona in Spain is well-reported but the Academy graduate is seemingly not holding any bad blood to the Reds.

Despite having his shirt number taken off him and not being able to train with the main group, the iPaper states that Rashford holds no animosity towards United.

In fact, the report claims that the forward would be willing to be reintegrated into the group, including for the pre-season tour, if Amorim sanctions it.

It was reportedly earlier this month that Rashford was willing to give ‘100 per cent in pre-season training and that he is not against remaining at the club.

Rashford wants to play at 2026 World Cup

Even when Rashford admitted that he wanted a new challenge in an interview with Henry Winter, he also stated that he didn’t want things to turn sour.

“You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person,” he said. “I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person.”

It must also be noted that Rashford is desperate to play for England at the 2026 World Cup and if his desired move to Barcelona does not work out, he won’t be able to get there by sitting in the reserves for United.

While it still seems like an exit is the best scenario for all involved, Rashford clearly wants to prove that he can still contribute at Old Trafford in case he ends up staying.

Despite his efforts, it still seems unlikely that Amorim will grant him a place on the pre-season tour of the United States, with the Reds set to travel next week.
