Marcus Rashford will be keen to extend his goalscoring record in Spain on Thursday as Manchester United take on Real Betis.

After winning 4-1 last week, Erik ten Hag’s men travel to Seville for the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 encounter

Rashford was on the score sheet last time out against Manuel Pellegrini’s side. He opened the floodgates in the first half before goals from Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst following the interval.

That was his 26th goal of the season in what has been a successful campaign for the forward so far.

Rashford will be hoping to score on Spanish soil for the fifth time as The Reds aim to progress to the last eight.

His current four place him at the top of United players who have scored in Spain. Tommy Taylor, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Dwight Yorke have scored two each.

The Englishman’s first goal in Spain came in 2017 on the way to United’s Europa League victory.

His cracking free-kick was the difference between The Reds and Celta Vigo in the first leg of their semi-final clash.

Rashford scored his second in the country the following year in a 2-1 defeat against Valencia in the Champions League.

Meanwhile his third came in a 2-0 victory at Granada during the 2020/21 season. It was a classic United counter-attack after Rashford controlled a long pass from Victor Lindelöf before producing a composed finish under the goalkeeper.

Finally, his most recent Spanish strike came in February this year as he hit a powerful shot towards the near post at the Camp Nou against Barcelona.

His fiercely struck goal was important as United knocked the La Liga leaders out of the European competition.

United have historically struggled against opposition from Spain — hence the low-scoring record for United players in the country.

After an excellent finish in the first leg against Betis, Rashford will be keen to extend this unique record.
