Marcus Rashford advised to make curveball Premier League transfer to Manchester United’s rivals after London transfer admission

Ian Wright has urged Marcus Rashford to seek a move to a surprise Premier League side this summer after his loan move to Aston Villa is over.

During the January transfer window, Marcus Rashford was sent out on loan to Aston Villa following a reported fallout with Manchester United head coach Rúben Amorim.

Since arriving at Villa, Rashford has rediscovered his spark. Operating under Unai Emery’s system, he has made 17 appearances, contributing four goals and six assists, showing signs of the player he once was at Old Trafford.

Villa’s Champions League journey ended despite a spirited display at Villa Park against Paris Saint-Germain, with Rashford’s performances across both legs drawing widespread praise.

Former United star Wayne Rooney was among those applauding the forward’s resurgence, publicly expressing his hope to see Rashford back in a United shirt, though, at present, such a return seems increasingly unlikely.

Rashford’s London transfer admission

With United looking to sell the 27-year-old this summer, a whole host of clubs across England and Europe have been linked with the player.

According to a new report from the BBC, although Rashford himself believes it is unlikely he will play for United again under Amorim, he is taking his time to make a final decision on his future.

However, one move he is said to have ruled out is relocating to London, which effectively shuts the door on any potential transfer to Arsenal, Chelsea, or Tottenham this summer.

Rashford reportedly wants to play for a club competing in the Champions League next season and has no interest in being part of a swap deal. Other reports have claimed that his preference is to join La Liga giants Barcelona this summer.

Rashford advised to join Newcastle

Amid all the speculation surrounding Rashford, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has thrown out a curveball piece of advice, explaining that the winger should seek a move to United’s Premier League rivals Newcastle this summer.

“It’s the kind of signing Newcastle should be making,” Wright said on his Ringer FC podcast. “That would be amazing. That would be dangerous.

“Rashford at Newcastle? Yeah. That would be really good. I really like that for Rashford. Rashford at Newcastle can be dangerous.”

Rashford himself has admitted that he feels he is ready for a new challenge, explaining in December that he feels his time at United is coming to a natural end – but assured that if a decision is made surrounding his future, he will be the one to communicate it.

“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford said. “When I leave, it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

“If I know that a situation is already bad, I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past, and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I’ll make a statement, and it will be from me.”
