Marcus Rashford scored the winning goal in the Manchester Derby as Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United came from behind to beat Manchester City 2-1.

The Englishman got his 22nd goal contribution of the season as United won their ninth game in a row. That is the most since Sir Alex Ferguson was at the helm.

However, it looked worrying for the forward towards the end of the first half against City. He fell to the floor holding his previously-injured hip after a collision with Kyle Walker.

Antony and Alejandro Garnacho began warming up and whilst Rashford carried on until half-time, it looked likely he would be replaced afterwards.

But he continued. Anthony Martial came off for Antony instead and, eventually, Rashford found the winner for United.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Rashford clarified that it was not a serious injury: “Just a little knock but in games like this you have to push through.”

He went on to praise the 18-year-old who assisted his winning goal. “The options we have got off the bench, there are players like Garnacho – young, hungry and full of talent,” added a smiling Rashford.

Ten Hag explained that the forward fought through the pain and that is something that he is learning to do.

“You have to be resilient, you get kicked, it hurts but you have to keep going. Fight and deal with the painful moment.

“That is what he did today and he and the team got rewarded. In top football, you have to suffer.”
