Manuel Ugarte has “always liked” key Man United selling point, Erik ten Hag agrees with him
Manuel Ugarte has “always liked” one key Manchester United selling point ahead of his transfer and Erik ten Hag agrees with him.
As the summer transfer deadline approaches, United are still looking to improve Erik ten Hag’s squad. In particular, the Reds are actively searching for a midfielder, with PSG’s Manuel Ugarte being a top target.
Respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Ugarte is eager to secure a move to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, according to David Ornstein, Napoli have reached an agreement with United to sign Scottish international Scott McTominay, pending the finalization of personal terms.
The deal includes a transfer fee of approximately £25.4 million, and United will also receive a percentage of any future sale by the Italian club.
Ornstein further revealed that if McTominay’s sale goes through, it would significantly enhance United’s efforts to acquire Ugarte.
The transfer looks likely to be complete in the coming days, and Ugarte’s previous comments display exactly why he is so desperate for the move.
When the 23-year-old joined PSG last year, he explained that he has “always liked” teams with great supporters and that this was an important factor in his decision.
“Firstly, I came for the greatness of the club but also for the fans, for the supporters,” he began when speaking to PSG’s in-house media team in July 2023.
“Because I’ve always liked teams with great supporters, and I think that’s very important.
“But the most important thing was to play for an ambitious club, and, of course, we want to win everything.”
Of course, Manchester United’s fanbase is one of the greatest in the world, and players who play with their hearts on their sleeves often become loved by the Old Trafford faithful.
Erik ten Hag has also always noted the importance of the United supporters. “We are sure you will be there supporting us—thank you. You are the best supporters in the world,” he said to the Old Trafford supporters ahead of the FA Cup victory in May.
