Manchester United will have a clear response to a lowball offer for Jadon Sancho from Juventus this week after Omar Berrada’s recent comments.
Jadon Sancho is among five Manchester United players expected to depart the club this summer, following Ruben Amorim’s decision to exclude him from his plans.
As pre-season gets underway, players have begun returning to Carrington, with Matheus Cunha joining up with the majority of his new teammates.
Sancho, along with Marcus Rashford, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho, has been instructed to stay away from first-team activities while they explore potential moves. Rashford, however, has been spotted training individually at the club’s facilities.
Sancho hasn’t played for United since the summer of 2024, when he was loaned to Chelsea following a dispute with then-manager Erik ten Hag.
Chelsea initially had an obligation to sign him permanently for £25 million but instead opted to pay £5 million to terminate the agreement. Juventus are currently in talks to sign the winger and have reportedly made a bid for the player.
United’s response to Juventus’ “pathetic” Sancho bid is clear
The latest reports from Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio states that Juventus have made an offer of £8.6 million plus an additional £4.3 million in add-ons for the United winger.
In total, the £12.9 million on the table is almost half of what the Reds want to receive for the 25-year-old this summer and some fans have described the bid as ‘pathetic’.
United have not officially responded to the offer and some fans are urging them to bite the bullet and accept it, but it feels very unlikely that will happen.
The new hierarchy at Old Trafford, led by Omar Berrada, are looking to get value for money this summer in terms of making signings and selling players too.
“Sometimes when you’re not quick, it’s because you’re negotiating and you’re trying to make sure you get the right value for money,” Berrada recently said. “So being efficient or quick isn’t necessarily the best thing for the club.”
United’s demands for Sancho have been between £20-25 million and that is unlikely to change after Juventus’ lowball offer.
INEOS struggling during United transfer window
The story of this summer transfer window is completely clear. United are trying to do things right in a moment where there is way too much to do.
Their strategy in terms of selling players might work if there was only one or two you needed to offload. Ideally, United would be seeing at least 10 departures this summer, but now it feels unlikely that all five of the listed players leave the club permanently.
And those situations are directly linked to the lack of signings made, as there is not enough money in the transfer kitty to make more deals.
INEOS are not covering themselves in glory right now, but it is a difficult balance to strike. If the club sell players for whatever price, then we will see complaints when they are sold in the future for much more cash – see Alvaro Carreras or Anthony Elanga.
