Manchester United’s post-season friendlies in Far East are blessing in disguise for “top” starlet, he’s expected to feature

Manchester United have confirmed that they will play two post-season friendly matches in the Far East just days after the Premier League season finishes.

After a long and gruelling campaign, which many fans are waiting to be over, Manchester United will have their final Premier League match on 25 May against Aston Villa.

Even if Ruben Amorim’s side manage to reach the Europa League final, that will be played several days earlier on 21 May in Bilbao.

However, it was confirmed this week that United will travel to the Far East for a post-season tour and the first game comes just three days after the clash against Villa on 28 May.

That game will be in Kuala Lumpur against ASEAN All-Stars before the team travel to Hong Kong to face their local side on 30 May.

Fans are perplexed as to why the Reds are playing so soon after the end of the season but the financial benefits are obvious, with reports claiming United could make up to £8 million from the trip.

It can also be argued that these extra games may provide an opportunity for some of the club’s young starlets to test themselves in Amorim’s setup.

Moorhouse expected to feature in United’s post-season friendlies

There are many young talents in and around Amorim’s squad right now. Chido Obi and Harry Amass have earned first-team debuts, while others are closing in on that moment.

Jack Moorhouse has been on the bench for the first-team on two occasions – against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal – and is continuing to make his name known in the Academy.

The midfielder is showcasing his ability on the ball on a weekly basis and has been described as a youngster who can become a “top” Premier League player.

It has been reported by MailSport that there is growing confidence that Moorhouse will be given his first-team debut before the end of the season.

That outlet has also claimed that the 19-year-old is a “prime contender” to appear on the post-season tour in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, as well as the pre-season tour in the United States.

Post-season tour could become blessing for Moorhouse

With many first-team regulars unlikely to play large amounts of minutes in those two post-season games, it may provide players like Moorhouse with the perfect opportunity to impress Amorim.

It has been claimed that the teenager is attracting interest from within the EFL for a potential loan move next season but if he can shine in pre-season, there is no reason he cannot be part of United’s squad next term.

Moorhouse’s ball carrying is amongst the best at the club and it often feels like that attribute is missing from Amorim’s two no.10s at Old Trafford.

While signings are expected in the summer, the Republic of Ireland youth international could end up providing solid depth in the squad for those unique positions.

There is no guarantee of that happening, but these extra friendly games could be the perfect way for Moorhouse to prove he is ready to step up.
