Manchester United’s new feeling about Antony is completely justified as “cautious optimism” claim made

Manchester United have a new feeling about Antony as he looks to move to Real Betis on deadline day after a dramatic transfer saga.

Manchester United have been actively trying to part ways with Antony throughout the transfer window, with the winger himself making it clear that he wants to leave Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim left the ex-Ajax player out of his pre-season tour squad, instead placing him in the group of players considered surplus to requirements for the upcoming campaign.

So far, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have left to Barcelona and Chelsea, respectively, while Rasmus Hojlund edges closer to a loan move to Napoli.

On Friday, reports suggested that United and Real Betis had agreed on a £25 million permanent deal for Antony, appearing to bring the saga to a close.

However, in a dramatic twist, Betis have since pulled back, warning they may walk away entirely unless United cover the shortfall in Antony’s wages, which the Spanish side cannot afford.

United’s new feeling about Antony

The latest move from Betis is clearly a tactic to try and get United to lower their price and the Reds believe that they will return to the table even without that.

According to the latest information from Sky Sports, talks remain ongoing between United and Betis regarding Antony’s potential transfer.

Despite the setback, it is claimed that there is still “cautious optimism” that a move will occur, with all parties keen to strike a deal.

The move may also hinge on the winger accepting a reduction in his personal terms, which are over the amount that Betis are willing to pay.

It was explained that United believe Antony should be willing to consider his demands, given his preference for a Betis return while rejecting alternative offers.

Antony cannot have his cake and eat it

It is complete fair and justifiable that United are expecting Antony to take a pay cut to facilitate this late move to Betis.

The Brazilian is making this out to be a dream move for him. In a similar situation, Marcus Rashford immediately slashed his wages to get his dream Barcelona move.

If he cared so much about his wages, there have clearly been plenty of offers which are financially better than Betis.

He can not have his cake and eat it, and the alternative is that he would stay at Old Trafford and ruin his World Cup chances next year.
