Manchester United’s international break plans revealed as Ruben Amorim explains “divide”

Manchester United won against Leicester City in their final game before a two-week long international break this month.
It was a convincing 3-0 win for Manchester United in their Premier League clash against Leicester City on Sunday evening.
Bruno Fernandes was the star man for the Reds, scoring once and assisting twice, while Matthijs de Ligt also impressed in the heart of the defence.
With the international break now upon us, things at Old Trafford aren’t as they always have been, with many players set to stay with the club as they have not been called up to play for their countries.
That is an indication of where the team is right now, but it also could be beneficial for Ruben Amorim, who admitted that his players were “tired” after the latest game.
Amorim explains United “divide” during international break
United only have a handful of players heading out to work with their nations during this two-week period.
That means there will be a lot of players who will need to be at Carrington but Amorim has explained that the group will be divided during this period.
A lot of players need to work on their fitness levels, such as Mason Mount and Luke Shaw, while others have been playing consistent football and need a break to recharge their batteries.
“For the coaches it is difficult to to have time off,” Amorim told the media when asked about international break plans.
“We are going to divide the group. Some of the players like Mason Mount and Toby [Collyer], they have to work on their fitness. We have to recover players to help [them all].
“Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo, all these players we are going to try to bring that [fitness].
“The players [must make] a final push for two competitions. Some of the players are going to rest more days than usual.
“So we are going to divide and give different things for different players and try to be ready for the the final two months.”
United have tough end to the season
United are going to need a good break in this period because they return to a gruelling set of fixtures which starts with an away trip to high-flying Nottingham Forest.
Then comes Premier League matches against Manchester City, Newcastle United and Wolves, sandwiching the two legs of United’s Europa League quarter-final clash against Lyon.
Afterwards, United will be set to play their final five games of the league campaign – with games against Bournemouth, Brentford, West Ham, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
Amorim’s men will be hoping to still be involved in the Europa League at that time, and they will need to be fully prepared for the upcoming challenges.
While it is very unlikely that a good run of form in the Premier League impacts United’s position in the table heavily, it is good for the team to build some sort of momentum and showcase that Amorim’s style is finally working for the squad.
