Manchester United are starting to make moves in the January transfer window in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Ruben Amorim will be keen for Manchester United to make some signings to bolster his squad this month but that will only occur if sales are made.

Nuno Mendes is emerging as one of the main targets for the left wingback role, while Patrick Dorgu is also an option after club scouts were ‘blown away’ by his performances.

In terms of potential departures, Marcus Rashford could be leaving on loan and there are further rumours surrounding the likes of Antony and Casemiro.

However, as always, the Reds will also be assessing the loan market for their Academy talent during the mid-season window.

United recall Harrison from Chester loan

United’s first confirmed move of the January involves one of their brightest Academy prospects in Elyh Harrison.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper joined National League North side Chester FC in the summer on loan and has since made 23 appearances for the club.

Harrison quickly became one of Chester’s most important players, keeping nine clean sheets during his stint, and it has now been confirmed that he has been recalled from that loan.

“Chester FC can confirm that goalkeeper Elyh Harrison has been recalled from his loan by parent club Manchester United,”  The Seals wrote in a statement.

It was the first glimpse of first-team football for Harrison and he appeared to take the opportunity with both hands and excel. Their manager, Calum McIntyre, described the goalkeeper as ‘immense’.

Harrison has been highly rated at United for several years and he won the club’s U21s Player of the Year award last season before heading out on loan.

Harrison will remain at United for remainder of the season

With Harrison now set to return to United, many assumed that he would be loaned back out to a higher level, potentially in the Football League.

However, his immediate future is now clear after a report from the Manchester Evening News clarified that the shot-stopper would be staying at the club for the remainder of the season.

Harrison will be spending time training with Amorim’s first-team squad at Carrington and getting game-time in the Under-21s.

The report added that there are ‘high hopes’ for Harrison within the Academy and United believe he has the potential to eventually break into the first-team squad.
