Manchester United’s fans LOVE Old Trafford tifo mock-up design for Athletic Bilbao clash, important eight word message

Manchester United unveiled their very first tifo banner before their incredible win over Lyon at Old Trafford in the Europa League quarter-finals.

It was confirmed by Manchester United ahead of that Lyon clash that they would unveil the tifo just before kick-off in an attempt to help the atmosphere in a must-win game.

They explained that there had been fan consultation with the design before Bruno Fernandes gave approval, but there was still some doubt about the prospect of the tifo.

However, every fan was pleasantly surprised when the banner rose across the Sir Alex Ferguson stand. A design which showcased every European cup victory at the club was showcased with the words, ‘Never Gonna Stop!’

That was shown in the game, where three goals in the final minutes of extra-time secured an unforgettable comeback victory for the Reds to book their place in the Europa League semi-finals.

United fans love tifo mock-up for Bilbao clash

United are now preparing for their two-legged semi-final clash against Athletic Bilbao and the first game is being played in Spain this Thursday.

That means that the all-important match will be hosted at Old Trafford once again and it seems there are potential plans in the works for another inspirational tifo banner.

The United fan group ‘Stretford End Flags‘ have already posted on social media asking for mock-up designs to put forward to the club and there was one response which fans loved.

One supporter shared a design of Sir Matt Busby and Bruno Fernandes holding a United shirt, with some iconic players in the background and an important message above and below – ‘You wear the shirt. You carry the legacy,’ it reads.

Speaking on his design, the supporter wrote: “It captures the soul of United: pressure, pride, purpose. Sets a tone that connects the current players to the weight of history in one line and It’s got the busy babes, Treble 99 etc etched into the clouds.”

Many other fans replied with their approval of the design. It remains to be seen whether this has been put forward to the club as a potential option for the Bilbao game, but it is the response with the most interactions.

United can benefit from second-leg at Old Trafford

United need to get over the line in the first-leg this week, but as long as they are in the game, Amorim’s side should feel confident coming back to Old Trafford.

Amorim hasn’t found too much joy at home so far in his United tenure but there are no doubts about the support in these kind of games.

Another inspirational tifo banner would certainly go towards making another special atmosphere at the Theatre of Dreams and it will hopefully be another positive night.

However, it would be much better for everybody’s heart-rates if the game is not as tense and dramatic as the last Europa League clash at the Theatre of Dreams.
