Manchester United are set to kick off their pre-season campaign next weekend with a friendly against long-time rivals Leeds United.
Following several weeks of rest, the Manchester United squad returned to Carrington this week to begin preparations under Ruben Amorim, who is aiming to make significant improvements ahead of the new season.
In the early days of training, new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon have been settling into their new surroundings, while several promising Academy players have also joined the sessions.
Those who played international fixtures last week returned to the training ground on Thursday but will still get plenty of time to prepare ahead of that Leeds game.
While the majority of United’s pre-season will take place in the United States as part of the Premier League Summer Series, the team will first play a one-off match in Sweden—facing Leeds in their opening friendly.
Amorim including exciting talents in United training
United fans have been receiving plenty of content around the opening week of pre-season training and there has been some exciting young talent spotted in the sessions.
Shea Lacey, Radek Vitek, Elyh Harrison, Reece Munro, Jaydan Kamason and Bendito Mantato are among those to have been involved with Amorim’s side.
Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro both missed the post-season tour games after they were rushed back for the Europa League final, so it was also positive to see them both back in action this week.
New signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon were also present, while experienced Reds like Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Noussair Mazraoui were also working hard.
In terms of those who have been absent, Sekou Kone is yet to appear despite impressing on the post-season tour and Lisandro Martínez is still recovering from his serious knee injury.
The full training squad from this first week of pre-season can be read in full below, and plenty of those players will be hoping to get minutes against Leeds next weekend.
