Manchester United’s base fee for Bryan Mbeumo revealed as Rúben Amorim ‘one step’ away from second signing

Rúben Amorim is hoping that Bryan Mbeumo will be able to report for Manchester United’s first day of pre-season training in the second week of next month.

Manchester United are nearing their second signing of the summer, with a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo now close to being finalised.

After securing Matheus Cunha earlier this month, Rúben Amorim is keen to add further attacking depth, though talks with Brentford over Mbeumo have taken time to progress.

An initial £55 million bid for the 25-year-old was rejected in early June, but United returned with an improved offer exceeding £60 million. It’s now understood that a base fee has been agreed, with both clubs working on add-ons that would bring the total value of the transfer to around £65 million.

Once Mbeumo completes his move to Old Trafford, United will look to move on several players and continue their push to sign a new striker and midfielder before the Premier League season begins in mid-August.

United’s base fee for Mbuemo revealed

While almost all reports state that United’s second bid for Mbeumo was above the £60 million mark but not more than £65 million, there has been ambiguity over the specifics of the deal.

Although Brentford did not reject United’s offer, they also did not outright reject the fee, meaning that although they would like to adjust the specifics, they are happy with the overall amount United offered.

According to The Mirror, the offer United sent Mbeumo was a base of £55 million in garuenteed cash, with add-ons taking this to above £60 million.

The report further states that Brentford want United’s overall package to match the £62.5 million paid for Cunha, with the two clubs now finalising the roughly £8 million in add-ons that will consist of. This is the final step before the deal can be considered complete.

Amorim will get his Mbeumo wish this summer

With Mbeumo’s medical set to take place early next week, It looks as if Amorim will get his wish of securing some of his major signings for the start of pre-season.

United’s players are set to return to Carrington on 7 July to report for the first day of training, and if Mbeumo’s trnasfer is annouced and over the line, it looks as if he will join Cunha in meeting the rest of the squad on the opening day.

This coming pre-season is huge for Amorim. He will have his full squad bar Lisandro Martínez available to him from day one, with those such as Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, and Kobbie Mainoo all working hard to stay fit and be ready for the start of July.

The club are also playing five fixtures, four of which are against Premier League sides and the last being a match against FIorentina at Old Trafford, which is a perfect set of games to help prepare his squad for the season ahead.

With United facing a tough set of fixtures in the opening two months of the campaign, it is imperitive that Amorim’s Reds hit the ground running.
