Manchester United still have a lot of work to do this transfer window despite Erik ten Hag spending over £175 million so fat this summer.

This summer has seen Manchester United play eight pre-season fixtures across five different countries, with Erik ten Hag keen to drill his new ideas into the squad ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Pre-season saw unofficial debuts for new signings André Onana and Mason Mount – however, one player who caught the eye of many fans is 18-year-old Dan Gore, from the academy.

Gore impressed when he played in midfield during pre-season, notching a lovely assist for Donny van de Beek’s goal against Lyon in the second friendly tie of the summer.

According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, Gore now has an outside chance of being involved in the Manchester United squad for their Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, with a spot on the bench available.

The report further explains the latest in relation to transfers, with Luckhurst claiming that senior figures at the club say fans should expect at least one more “bonus” signing this summer.

This is due to the departure of Harry Maguire, who is likely to be leaving to West Ham for £30 million if personal terms between the player and the club can be agreed – United have already accepted West Ham’s bid.

Ten Hag is said to have a choice of signing either Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard or Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, with Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba described as a “backup” option in case neither of these players can be transferred.
