Manchester United ‘want to sanction’ £90m double sale this month, it covers Carlos Baleba’s transfer

Manchester United are reportedly looking to raise as much as £90 million this month as Rúben Amorim continues his pursuit of Carlos Baleba.

Manchester United are closing in on a fifth summer signing as Rúben Amorim continues to reshape his squad at Old Trafford.

The club’s spending in the 2025 window has already hit the £200 million mark, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon accounting for around £130 million after arriving ahead of the pre-season tour of the United States.

After lifting the Premier League Summer Series trophy, United struck a deal with RB Leipzig for 22-year-old Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško, agreeing on a £66 million fee plus £7.5 million in potential add-ons.

Šeško is expected to be unveiled on Saturday afternoon, and reports suggest United are now targeting a new midfielder, while a goalkeeper could also arrive if circumstances permit.

United looking to sanction £90m double sale

With United’s summer spending reaching around £200 million, it is accepted that the remaining transfers cannot be sanctioned until the club sells some of its current assets.

With Šeško through the door, United are reportedly now willing to sell their current No. 9, Rasmus Højlund, and according to talkSPORT, their asking price has reached £40 million.

TalkSport also detail that if Højlund were to leave Old Trafford this summer, his preference would be a return to Serie A, amid reports that he has held positive talks with AC Milan. However, Saudi Pro League sides are also interested in the Dane.

It has also been widely reported that, with Chelsea having opened talks with the Old Trafford club for Alejandro Garnacho, Amorim’s Reds are demanding £50 million for the star winger.

United raising funds for Baleba move

On Wednesday afternoon, news broke that United had started exploring a move for Brighton sensation Carlos Baleba. The 21-year-old is one of the most highly rated young midfielders in the world.

With the Cameroon player having obvious links to André Onana and Mbeumo, as well as being a former teammate of Leny Yoro’s at Lille, there is a belief that the transfer could be pulled off.

However, multiple reports have suggested that Brighton are not willing to let go of the player this summer, and have set a price tag of around £90 million plus add-ons, while United believe the player is worth around £70 million instead.

If the club can offload Garnacho and Højlund for close to their desired £90 million, this will help them put funds on the table for a move for Baleba.
