Manchester United vs Wolves: Preview, team news, how to watch (Premier League)

Following an unbelievable comeback victory against Lyon in Europa League at Old Trafford, Manchester United are set to host Wolves in Round 33 of Premier League this Sunday.

Manchester United are aiming to retain their positive form, while Wolves will also be optimistic to continue their winning streak in Premier League to avoid relegation.

United featured a fully action-packed second leg of the Europa League quarter-finals, where they returned from a 2-4 deficit to a 5-4 victory against Lyon in just the final seven minutes of the game.

However, United’s terrible form in the Premier League has continued after losing 4-1 to Newcastle United last time out, conceding three goals in the second half.

The Red Devils are winless in their previous three Premier League fixtures, with two defeats and have managed to collect only five points out of the last 15 available.

Enduring their worst-ever Premier League campaign, United have registered just ten wins in 32 games to stay in 14th place. With relegation being very unlikely, United seem to be primarily focused on Europa League success to secure Champions League football next season.

Meanwhile, Wolves have done a great job of getting enough distance from the relegation area. Heading towards Old Trafford, the Old Gold secured four consecutive victories in Premier League, defeating Tottenham in the most recent fixtures by 4-2.

Wolves’ away form has been appreciable recently as they won four of their last six games away from Molinuex Stadium, losing two, including FA Cup defeat against Bournemouth on penalties.

Ait Nouri opened the scoring for Wolves just a minute after the start of the game, while Spurs gifted an own goal to the home side through Spence in the 34th minute, and Strand Larsen and Mathues Cunha scored the decisive goal in the second half.

With a brilliant display of winning sequence, the Old Gold are 14 points clear of the drop zone, standing in the sixteenth position with ten wins in 32 rounds.

United vs Wolves Head-to-Head Record

Manchester United have been the dominant side in their recent head-to-head record against Wolves, winning four consecutive meetings prior to this season.

However, the Old Gold didn’t miss the opportunity to capitalise on United’s dismal campaign this season, securing a 2-0 home victory in December 2024

Since Wolves’ return to the Premier League in 2018/19, the Red Devils have taken them down in four of their previous seven encounters at Old Trafford, keeping five clean sheets.

But United must keep things tight at the back this time, as Wolves have netted the ball in the previous seven road fixtures in a row, while United have won just one clean sheet at home in 2025 so far.

Team news and predicted scoreline

After a dramatic 5-4 win over Lyon during 120 minutes of Europa League quarter-finals, manager Ruben Amorim may rotate the starting line-up for upcoming fixtures to avoid any injury threat.

Meanwhile, Amad Diallo, Joshua Zirkzee, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Toby Collyer and Ayden Heaven are the players on the injury list for Manchester United. Meanwhile, Jonny Evans has returned to training, but the next fixture comes too soon to see him in the starting XI.

On the other hand, Wolves also have a long list of injuries, with the names of Enso Gonzalez, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Leon Chiwome, Pedro Lima, Sasa Kalajdzic and Yerson Mosquera.

Manchester United’s attacking target Cunha returned to action against Spurs after a four-game suspension, came off the bench to score last weekend, and is expected to start at Old Trafford.

With nothing significant left in the Premier League, Manchester United will be throwing everything into the Europa League. On the other hand, Wolves will be brimming with confidence after their current exceptional form in the Premier League and have every chance of leaving Old Trafford with something to show for it.

Final Score Prediction: 1-1
