A 23-year-old male has been arrested following an incident that saw a bottle launched at the Manchester United team bus back in December.

The incident would occur ahead of United’s Premier League match against rivals Liverpool, with Erik ten Hag’s team approaching Anfield.

Footage of the incident would quickly make its way onto social media, showing the bottle hitting United’s team bus.

Now, the MailOnline is reporting that Merseyside Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in relation to the incident.

Speaking to the publication, a spokesperson for the force stated the following:

“We have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage after damage was caused to the Manchester United team bus ahead of a game at Anfield on 17th December 2023.

“The bus was making its way along Anfield Road, near the Tia Hotel, when it was reported a bottle was thrown at the bus causing a hairline crack to the side window. Nobody was injured during the incident.

“The man, who is from the Everton area, has been released under investigation.”

In the weeks since the bottle incident ahead of Liverpool vs Manchester United, moments of disorder from fans have occurred on several occasions across English football.

Most recently, one such incident occurred during Sunday’s FA Cup tie between West Brom and Wolves, leading to six arrests being made.
