Manchester United urged to place bid for ‘perfect signing’ after incredible display vs Arsenal
Manchester United are aiming to make signings in the January transfer window but some players may be beyond their reach this month.
Ruben Amorim is keen for Manchester United to reinforce the squad during the mid-season window, though new signings are expected to hinge on player departures.
Nuno Mendes has become a primary target for the left wing-back role, while Patrick Dorgu is also being considered after earning high praise from club scouts.
Regarding potential exits, Marcus Rashford is reportedly a candidate for a loan move, with ongoing speculation surrounding the futures of several players such as Antony and Casemiro.
While left-wingback is a priority for Amorim, there are also major question marks over the ability up front, with goalscoring issues aplenty at Old Trafford.
Sheringham urges United to sign Isak
One player who would certainly solve some of United’s offensive issues is Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, who is in red hot form at the moment.
He scored against United last week and currently has 10 goals in his last nine appearances for the Magpies.
The Swede put his team into a dominant position for the second-leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal after scoring and receiving the Man of the Match in the opening game at the Emirates on Tuesday evening.
Teddy Sheringham is of the belief that United should place a bid for Isak, who is the ‘perfect signing’ and believes that the 25-year-old would still consider a move despite United’s struggles.
“Manchester United is still a massive draw for any player and playing for the club is still a highlight of anyone’s career,” he told Premier League Odds.
“Would Alexander Isak consider joining United if a bid came in? Without a doubt. I’m not saying a deal will get done but he would be the perfect signing for United.
“He can lead the line and score goals and could be a statement signing for the new regime. He is full of confidence at the moment and could lead by example.”
United need to be realistic with transfers and situation
One thing needs to be made clear. Manchester United are not signing Alexander Isak, who is currently valued at around £150 million by his club.
This is the situation the Reds find themselves in now, and it is something that fans and pundits have to acknowledge.
Transfer targets have to be realistic at this moment in time and Isak is certainly not realistic, as unfortunate as it sounds.
There are several reasons for this but the biggest one is that Premier League clubs now have the financial power to refuse offers for their own star players.

That was not the case when Sheringham was playing the game, but the prices now make it extremely difficult to sign players like Isak for any club, let alone a United team who are struggling financially anyway.
