Manchester United urged to make “unbelievable” appointment, it would stop “weak mentality” habit

A Sky Sports pundit has called for Manchester United to appoint Roy Keane to the club amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United’s start to the Premier League campaign has been very underwhelming, with the Reds already falling short of their expectations.

Ruben Amorim’s side looked to compete for trophies this season, although with them already being out of the Carabao Cup and now sitting 14th in the league, it could be another season without silverware.

The Red Devils’ most recent defeat came at the hands of Bryan Mbeumo’s former side, Brentford, who capitalised on a lacklustre United display as they ran to a 3-1 victory.

Due to their disappointing start to the campaign, many pundits are calling for the sacking of Amorim, but Jamie O’Hara has revealed his alternative solution to United’s dilemma.

O’Hara calls for Keane appointment

When speaking on Sky Sports, the former Tottenham player discussed the United manager and offered his verdict on what the club should do regarding their backroom staff.

He said, “I mean, I’m amazed that no one has phoned Roy Keane and said, ‘Can you come in at Man United and be part of what we’re doing here?’ because he is arguably Man United’s greatest captain.

“He is a leader, he’s unbelievable, when you watch him, he’s ferocious, you know, you listen to him, when he walks into a dressing room, you’re gonna listen, he’s gonna lead by example, he’s not going to allow poor standards.

“Maybe he can’t be the manager, maybe because he’s too hotheaded, maybe they want someone with a bit more tactical nous, or whatever.”

United’s weak mentality

The English pundit continued giving his verdict by saying, “How Roy Keane isn’t at that football club, in that dressing room, in there every day, in the training ground, telling them, ‘this is the standard, this is what’s Man United, this is what we’ve built, this is how we do it’, I cannot believe they’ve not done something like that.

“You’re getting all these weak managers, all these weak mentality people in there, and I look at it and go, this is Man United, Manchester United. You’re getting beaten by Brentford at the weekend, 3-1, and it’s not even a surprise. I cannot believe how far they’ve fallen.”

O’Hara finished off his damning rant about the Portuguese coach by stating that, “He’s not the guy.”

Amorim will need to prove the doubters wrong in the coming weeks if he is to save his job and show a stronger mentality in order to turn the club’s current situation around.
