Manchester United update provided on team news leaks culprits, the club are ‘convinced’
An update has been provided in relation to Manchester United’s concerns over team news leaks, with the club ‘convinced’ about the culprits.
The Premier League changed their rules surrounding team news this season so that starting XIs could be officially released 15 minutes earlier than usual across the division.
Yet, this change doesn’t really impact Manchester United supporters, who are regularly aware of their team before the club’s official line-up posts are uploaded.
Leaks have been a problem at Old Trafford for a long while and team news leaks have seemingly become the bread and butter to come out of United.
Social media accounts regularly post whether certain players are starting games and more recently it has been a regular occurrence to see the full starting XI more than 15-20 minutes before official announcements.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the club are ‘convinced’ that a network of people are behind the team news leaks at Old Trafford.
Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho have been accused of having leaked selection information, but this has been described as ‘rubbish’ from club sources, with no proof backing up those assertions.
Instead, United believe that the leaks are not down to a couple of individuals, but instead a network of people with ‘varying motivations and incentives’.
It was further stated that the club have denied that the have conducted an investigation into the leaks, but reports elsewhere have claimed that several players have been spoken to in recent weeks.
Ruben Amorim admitted that the leaks are ‘not a good thing’ after his starting XI against Manchester City was released more than 12 hours before kick-off. However, the United boss also recognises that it is a difficult thing to fix.
“I know that story,” Amorim said. “I think it is impossible to fix, because you have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents, you can talk with friends, it’s hard to know, it is not a good thing.
“But let’s move on and go to the next one and I see if they find the next starting XI!”
