Manchester United told to buy ‘Kobbie Mainoo’s mentor’ amid transfer exit rumours
Manchester United have been advised to sign Frenkie de Jong to partner in midfield with Kobbie Mainoo amid rumours that Casemiro will leave Old Trafford.
Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo have been forming a solid partnership across 2024 so far, which has coincided with an overall good run of form from Manchester United, barring the recent loss to Fulham at Old Trafford.
Casemiro, who turned 32 earlier in the month, has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the last few months, with some reports claiming that Erik ten Hag is open to letting him leave.

However, these reports further stipulate that this is only on the condition that United then bring in Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, who has been a target for Ten Hag since 2022, to replace Casemiro.
Speaking recently, United legendary striker Dwight Yorke explained that De Jong would be a good mentor to Kobbie Mainoo and that the two would make a great combination in midfield.
“Frenkie de Jong to mentor Mainoo? I think that’d be a good combination as he’s suited to Man United’s midfield. If he were to come, it’d be a nice youthful balance there,” Yorke told GamblingZone.

“I’m not sure how old De Jong is, but I think he’d give us that X-factor that we need in midfield and a little bit of creativity, which he’s capable of doing, as well as adding legs in midfield.
“He ticks all the boxes, and I think the combination of him and Mainoo would be a fabulous one to look forward to next season.”
