According to new reports, Manchester United have a future star on their hands, in the form of a 17-year-old Colombian international.
Cristian Orozco has the future of Manchester United placed upon his back, with the young player leaving the coaching staff at Old Trafford excited to see what he brings to the club.
Orozco has already been seen to be making a substantial impact on the pitch, a well-known name at the current U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
El Espectador has described the rising star as the “leader of a new generation in Colombia”, making his arrival in Manchester seem much more exciting, with the potential for Orozco to make big changes at Utd.
Although in a much better position as of late, United isn’t playing to the same standard it once was, so the idea that the club have a young and willing new player on their roster creates a sense of excitement for the future.
Orozco pulling strings for the national team
Orozco showed his broad skill set last year during the South American championships. He was a team leader during this competition, displaying his skill set both on and off the pitch.
Under his leadership, the team reached the final against Brazil; however were beaten on penalties. El Espectador have gone on to describe the No. 6 as having “excellent ball control” and is “pulling strings for the national team.”
Orozco is showered with nothing but praise, making the £700,000 fee paid for by United seem promising, with the club describing it as a “bet for the future”, hoping the Colombian youngster can bring United back to what it once was.
Due to only being 17 years of age, plans have not yet been revealed as to whether Orozco will be joining the youth side or go straight to the first team after his 18th birthday; however, expectations are ‘enormous’ for the impact Orozco could make.
How will Orozco benefit the matchday squad?
With reports stating that Orozco is likely to officially join the Reds in the summer of 2026, this leaves him time to become well-versed in whatever squad the club choose to put him.
His playing style has often been likened to Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo, fitting the role of a modern holding midfielder, something that Utd have lacked for years.
It is reported that Orozco is aggressive in one-to-one situations and reads situations very efficiently, something that United are seen to often lack with players like Casemiro.
Amongst this, he also said to be calm on the ball, often recycling possession as opposed to panicking, with his ability to intercept and immediately bring about counters, all skills that will be well-suited for the young player in making his way into Ruben Amorim’s ranks.
